Speakers:

Fin Mc Caul (UK)

Originally from Northern Ireland, Fin Mc Caul graduated from John Moores University with a degree in Pharmacy. He worked for Boots for a short period before beginning his independent focused community pharmacy career.
From starting working in a small chain of independent pharmacies, in 1990 he joined the group as a director and shareholder. Fin is currently Managing Director of Prestwich Pharmacy in Manchester, a modern, award winning, forward thinking pharmacy. Fin was one of the founder members and Chairman of the Independent Pharmacy Federation. In 2015 the organisation merged with the National Pharmacy Association. With the merger Fin is now Advisor to the Board of the NPA, where he will continue to be a strong advocate for independents and the work they do. Fin is currently the Long Term Conditions Lead for Bury Clinical Commissioning Group working with GPs, other primary care providers and secondary care providers to reshape local provision for the benefits of the patients in the new NHS.

Prof. William Doucette (USA)

William R. Doucette received his Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin. His research interests include ways that pharmacists, especially in the community, can influence medication use. Professor Doucette is Head of Division of Health Services Research. Dr. Doucette’s primary focus is to examine the practice of pharmacists. He is the national expert in studying pharmacist role and professional activities, and his research often takes the form of innovating new practice ideas and examining the outcomes of those ideas on practice processes and/or patient outcomes. Dr. Doucette is a leader in a network of scientists who have examined longitudinally the patterns of the changing role and demographics of pharmacist practice. As a scientist, he has over 120 publications and just fewer than 175 scientific presentations to his credit. In his field, this is an exceptional performance.

Doucette’s publications often appear in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association, the highest impact journal for his pharmacist intervention work.  His research also appears in the rigorous and well respected research journal Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy; as well as clinical journals such asPharmacotherapy and Annals of Pharmacotherapy

“Dr. Doucette’s curriculum vitae documents his involvement in science, teaching, national service and service to his academic homes.  He is a national and international leader in research on the practice of pharmacy,”
